Teikyoku, Empi-Ha and Tenshoa are the "Foundation and Cornerstone Katas" of U.S.A.G.A.®

They have more than enough self-defense techniques that it would take a lifetime to master them all.

In the above letter O'Sensei Urban confirms the importance of his Top Three Keystone Katas of U.S.A.G.A.®

1.The Urban Teikyoku Synthesis = (The I Pattern) 2.The Urban Tenshoa Kata = (The Breathing Hands)

3.The Urban Empi-Ha Kata = (The Forms of Elbow and Closeness).

We are all brothers and sisters of USA GoJu Karate. O'Sensei Urban always referred to us as his sons and daughters and, like any family, we are going to have our ups and downs. We are not always going to agree with one another on all issues, but I found in my personal family life that arguments are sometimes good as this is how we get to know one another. No one knew this better than O'Sensei Urban; he once told me that love sometimes hurts but if we stick together we can get through it. Yes, some will leave USA GoJu and do their own thing, there is nothing wrong with that, like I said it's like any good family. For example, all of our children left our home and are doing their own thing but we still are all concerned about one another. Even if someone in our family goes astray we must forgive them. Below are a list of names that feel very strongly about the brother and sisterhood of USA GoJu karate.

The below Masters and Senseis are to be commended; they are no doubt the foundation of USA Goju Karate, it is through their

hard work, dedication, and loyalty that U.S.A.G.A.® has flourished throughout the United States and other countries as well. All of the

Masters below has helped O'Sensei Urban in one way or another, especially Shihan Gotay. O'Sensei Urban has often told me that it was

Shihan Gotay who has arranged and often picked him up for his yearly tournaments. Also Shihan Dayton, who was always there when

O'Sensei Urban needed him. Master Montalvan has helped O'Sensei Urban and his wife Mieko quite often back in the 70s and his brother,

Sensei Dr. Montalvan, was one of O'Sensei Urban's personal physicians. When O'Sensei Urban went to Florida

Master Joe Hess and his wife Brenda took him into their home until he got himself situated. In the early days Master Jay Maisel

was O'Sensei Urban's photographer, Master Hooker of Florida was also very close to O'Sensei; it was he who has created the Peter G. Urban

Museum in memory of our beloved Sensei. Master Ron Vanclief was also a very good friend of O'Sensei, he spent many a night playing chess

with Sensei and was also there when Sensei ever needed him. Master Vansickle was also a very close friend of O'Sensei, Master Dr. Padu

started his training at the Judo Twins Dojo and he also became a very good friend of our Sensei. Master Sakas personally trained under O'Sensei

and for short periods of time lived with Sensei when visiting the United States, he also contributed a great deal to our Sensei. Master Jones and

Master Sha always went out of their way for O'Sensei Urban especially at the tournament scene. Master Ruiz, founder of Nisei GoJu,

always remained faithful to our Sensei and he also spent many nights playing chess with Sensei. Master Ed. Doyle was a good friend of O'Sensei

Urban and his personal writer. Master Roldan was also a close friend of O'Sensei. Master Ingham also often helped our Sensei.

Master Gallego often helped O'Sensei while he was situated in Miami.

Master Parks was in the process of helping Sensei Urban open a new Dojo and was by O'Sensei Urban's side when he passed on, Master Parks was

the last Karate - Ka to receive rank from O'Sensei Urban, he was verbally promoted to the rank of 10th Degree Black Belt by our Sensei.

Master Malanoski loved O'Sensei Urban and would have done anything for him, or though some may disagree with this I did a some of research and

found him to be very loyal to O'Sensei and U.S.A.G.A.® the USA Goju karate Association. Master Mike Hurley was the creator of the famous battle flag that was taken to all tournaments, he had it design especially for O'Sensei Urban.
